First Impression: Covergirl Flamed Out and Maybelline Big Eyes Mascaras

Hey,

I got the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara a few weeks ago and earlier this week Covergirls Flamed Out mascara earlier this week. I wanted to share by first impressions on these mascaras but felt it wasn't enough for one post so I figured I'd combine them and then tell you which one I'd suggest.

Let's start with the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara. What's really cool about this mascara is that it has a separate mascara for the lower lashes, which is a nice mascara. But with that said the mascara for you upper lashes doesn't do anything, I tried this and so did my mother and neither of us felt like it did anything. It's like putting nothing on your lashes and no matter how much you work with it is barely shows up. To me it's not even a natural look it just looks like you have nothing on, this isn't what I kook for in a mascara at all, I have fairly nice lashes and this doesn't do anything to them other then tints them, so no matter your lashes I'd say skip on this, it does nothing at all. It's quite the let down for Maybelline mascaras. I honestly couldn't even tell you how this weird since I can't see it to say if it's still on in a few hours. The brush on the top lash mascara is thin, it tapered to the tip and has a twist in the brush. The lower lashes mascara I'd just small and straight nothing special, your typical wand for the lower lashes.

The Covergirl Flamed Out mascara on the other hand is nice, it gives a natural look but it is still really nice. It wears great, I actually fell asleep with this on and it looked the same as it did before I fell asleep, I have experienced no flaking. It doesn't make your lashes hard and it holds a curl. This does need to be built up if you want to have more then a natural look but two coats looks nice too. The brush is a bit different, it's smaller in the middle and the tip and base seem to be the same size, the brush is really good and this mascara doesn't leave clumps.

Both of these mascaras are around the same price and where one can be bought the other one should be able to be bought there too. The Covergirl mascara is the one I would suggest, skip on the Maybelline mascara it really doesn't do anything.

Have you tried either of these, what are your thoughts on them?

Coffee Scrub

Hey,
I love coffee, its great for your body and skin. For this scrub I mix about two tablespoons of coffee with enough olive oil to make a paste, I then add half a teaspoon of both cinnamon and nutmeg to help with acne. You want to use ground coffee, instant will work but not as well. The nutmeg and cinnamon are optional. I then massage this onto my clean face for a minute then I let it sit for between 5-10 minutes then I rinse it off with warm water and go on with my skin care routine. This scrub helps with acne, is brightening and hydrating, and with all the sun exposure you get during the summer hydrating scrubs and masks are a must!

Have you ever used coffee as a mask or scrub?

Mani Monday: Caramel Cupcake

What it looks like in sunlight
Hey,

This week I went with Rimmel 60 Second polish in Caramel Cupcake, its a pretty nude. Unfortunately this color is not flattering with my skin tone, so if you have a medium skin tone you may want to pass on this polish, although it looks gorgeous in the sun; it makes your hands look like mannequin hands. It would probably look nice on some one with either a dark skin tone or a light skin tone. The polish itself is great, has nice lasting power, goes on opaque in two coats which for a nude this cheap is amazing, it also applies so easily. These polishes truly are great and I would recommend them, but this shade just isn't a good color for me.

What it looks like in natural lighting
I think from now on I'm going to include picture of what the polish looks like in natural light and in the sun. I'm also going to try to get back into blogging by doing at least three post a week.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick

Hey,

These lipsticks are my favorite drugstore lipsticks, I have like 13 of them, not going to lie I intend on collecting them all, or at least all of the Kate Moss ones. These are all the same formula, except for the matte ones, but other then that the normal line and the Kate Moss ones are the same. These lipsticks aren't drying at all, including the matte ones, which is hard to find a non-drying matte lipstick. They don't catch dry skin or fall into the lines on your lips, they go on great. They are supposed to be a long lasting lipstick, but I wouldn't consider them long lasting, they last for around two hours. They have great pigmentation and smell like candy, the matte ones(in the red packaging) smell terrible though, or at least I think they do, but they smell isn't unbearable. They come in a wide selection, although there are more nudes then anything else, but with that being said they have a nude for every skin tone. My personal favorites are the Kate Moss ones in 101(matte), 102(matte), 107(matte), 01, and from the regular Lasting Finish line 006 Pink Blush. I would suggest these to everyone, they have a color for everyone and are affordable, they can be found at most drugstores and range from 4.50$ to 6.00$. They have 37 shades to chose from and are definitely worth a try. My only complaint would be they have a wider selection in the UK and should really just release all the colors they have everywhere because I really would love to be able to get my hands on some of the colors they have over there, but other then that I have no complaint for these lipsticks.

Thanks for reading, please leave any  request below! Sorry if this review isn't the best, its been a while since I wrote one and just need to get into the hang of it again.

Best Lotion for Dry Skin

Hey,

Since it is Winter gotten so dry share my two favorite lotions for dry skin with you. I have a high end option and a drugstore option, both these lotions are thick and rub into your skin very easily, they also don't require too much product, but that my vary on the dryness of your skin.

Kiehl's Intensive Treatment and Moisturizer, this lotion is amazing but it is between 26usd for 3.4 oz or 48usd for 8 oz. This has done wonders for my hands, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good lotion for dry skin. They do have an Ultimate Strength Hand Slave, which is supposedly really great and it doesn't cost as much, I haven't tried this so I can't give my opinion on it. If you do decide to try this, keep in mind it expires in 12 months when picking the size. This is also fragrance free.
http://www.kiehls.com/Intensive-Treatment-and-Moisturizer-for-Dry-or-Callused-Areas/295,default,pd.html?start=35&cgid=body-product

The other lotion I wanted the Neutrogena Hand Cream, this doesn't work as well for me but does a pretty good job, this is only five dollars, and they have a fast absorbing version for six dollars, I haven't tried that one yet. This lotion can be found at most drugstores, I'm do believe you can get this in the UK but I am not positive; I usually get this at walmart. It can be purchased in either original scent or fragrance free, personally I suggest fragrance free since its less irritating on dry skin.

I do suggest the Kiehl's one over the Neutrogena, but both work great; so I recommend which ever is in your price range. Have you tried any of these, what were your thoughts on them?

At home cuticle oils

Hey,

My cuticles are always dry and personally I can never remember to buy cuticle oil nor find it something I want to spend very much money on. These are a few alternatives I use that I and have heard of through others.

Lip balm, you would be surprised of the uses you can get out of lip balm, I find that the Vaseline and Carmex lip balms in the squeeze tubes work best. I just squeeze a little out, you need the tiniest amount, and just massage this into my cuticles. You could use just petroleum jelly without the chemicals, it doesn't make a difference, I just personally use the lip balm.

Oils, coconut, olive, hemp, vitamin E, and tea tree, these types of oils are great alone or mixed together, I have dry hands so I like to exfoliate with these types of oils and the rinse of just the sugar or salt and leave the oil on my hands and cuticles and put on a thick layer of lotion and a pair of gloves, I sleep with this and find that not only my hands but my cuticles are moisturized once I wake up. This is good to do once a week, depending on how dry your hands and cuticles are. I don't think I could have said and anymore in that last sentence.

The way that works best for me is applying these such things to my hands after I get out of the shower, but you could just soak your fingers in warm water for five minutes. The reason you want to soak them first is the oil or petroleum jelly will lock in the moisture that is added from the water and keep your cuticles softer longer, it will also do more overall for your cuticles this way.

I hope this helps! Do you have any other things you use to keep your cuticles moisturized or a great cheap cuticle oil?

ELF vs. Wet n Wild: Cream Eyeliner

Metallic Olive
        VS

Hey,
It has been a while since I've done one of these, actually since I have done a review. Today I wanted to talk to you about cream eyeliners, I have used both of these for quite some time, I have actually went through an ELF cream eyeliner.

So the basics of the two are they are both really black and cheap. The ELF packaging is much better then the Wet n Wild packaging, personally I feel the ELF looks nicer then the WnW, the WnW is actually quite cheap looking. Both these eyeliners are 3usd. The WnW stays on longer then the ELF liner but they are both quite long lasting. Both seem to take just as long to dry out. They are both smooth and creamy, they are a harder cream then those that are liquidy. I have a review on the ELF liner which you can see here. These both come with a brush, the ELF one is much nicer, the WnW actually hurt my eye when I gave it a try.

Over all I think they are both great, but I would recommend the WnW over the ELF, because in the US it's more obtainable and a bit better, but both are nice and would do a great job. I feel you can't go wrong with one of these liners and either or both are worth giving a try.

Have you tried these yet, which do you prefer?

Brown sugar face mask/scrub

Hey,

This face mask is one that I have been doing for quite some time and saw in a magazine years ago, I want to say it was Seventeen but I could be wrong. This is such a simple face mask/scrub; it only requires two ingredients and only take fifteen minutes from start to finish. This really helps with acne and gives you soft skin, and these are things almost everyone already has.

All you need for this is 2 tablespoons of brown sugar and 1/4 cup of milk, organic is best but use what you have. Next just mix the two together and apply to your face, scrub this in circular motions for one to two minutes then let sit on your face for five to ten minutes. After you let it sit on your face rinse it off and wash and tone your face like normal. You can add a tablespoon of olive oil into this if you have dry skin.

Thanks for reading, please leave any request below, and let me know if you try this and how it works for you!

Rue 21 Perfumes

This one is my favorite.
Hey,

I wanted to talk about these perfumes with you, I figured I would just make a review out of it. I'm not going to even go into scents because that is such a hard thing to suggest to someone or review since we are all different with scents. I know I usually review makeup but I really do love these and want to share my thoughts with you.

I love these perfumes, the only thing about they're scents I'm going to say is they all come off to me as sweet, but I really do like them. These perfumes are only sold at Rue 21 stores and outlets, they are 10usd, they only come in one size; which is 1.7oz. These last so long though, not just the bottle but on you. They remind me of the Escada perfumes, since they so sweet, but from what I've been told those fade away really fast. Honestly these last on me all day, they have qualities of a high end perfume and they are only ten dollars.

These are really great for people who like perfume over body splash, want something that's going to last all day, and that's cheap. I honestly recommend these to everyone, they aren't a sophisticated scent or a mature scent but they are really great for the price and they have really cute packaging, it doesn't look as nice as high end perfumes but its is cute and not extremely cheap looking. I really do suggest everyone to just smell them at least. These are also good for teenagers who want a good selection of perfumes but can't afford to buy a lot of high end perfumes, they would make good gifts for teens too. I will say these are more for people around 14-24, but anyone could wear them they just have a teenager/ young adult quality.

The only down fall of them in my opinion is that you can only get these at Rue 21, but other then that they are great, and affordable.

Have you tried these before, do you like them, and what ones have you tried?

Thanks for reading, please leave any request below!

Rue 21, they seem to have gotten rid of a few, but are always coming out with new ones.

DIY Hair Detangler

Hey,
So I was have extremely tangley hair, I was looking for a DIY hair detangler I could make and then share with you. I can never seem to find any that aren't for kids, too overpriced and that work. I'm not opposed to buying detangler made for kids but I find they don't work or I can't get past their scent, and some even way my hair down. So I went on a search for a DIY hair detangler, the one I found and am going to share with you is so simple and could double as a leave in condition.

What you need:
Spray bottle, you want a small bottle
Conditioner, your favorite scented one or whatever one you have, I used a Herbal Essence one
Water, not tap, either distilled or hot water

All you do is take you spray bottle fill it up about 3/4 the way then add in about an 1/8 of a cup of conditioner, this will vary on the size of your bottle but you want it to be a small bottle and use around one cup of water. After everything is in the bottle just shake it up, once the cap is on of course! This not only is cheap, uses stuff you already have but you can make its not limited to a scent.

How I use it is, after I towel dry my hair I spray a good bit in mainly at the ends. After its mostly dry I just brush my hair out with a paddle brush or a wide tooth comb and my hair is less tangled and it makes my hair softer.

Whats that not so simple, and if you try it I'm sure you'll agree much better then the ones you get at the store!

Thanks for reading, please leave any request below! Are there any face mask you've heard of or a specific problem either hair, nails, or skin, you'd like a DIY mask or treatment for?

How to cure Eye Puffiness

Hey,

So this is just for everyone but also goes along with the back to school theme. I know I only get six hours of sleep usually during the school year. With the lesser amount of sleep my hereditary dark circles get worse and my eyes tend to be puffy in the morning. I figured I would share things that help with that and that can be done quickly in the morning.

First thing you can make are green tea/chamomile tea ice cubes. You can do one or mix them together, what you do to make these is take a bag of each or two of the same and steep them in boiled water for about three minutes, after you do that you want to pour them into an ice tray, I like to stick toothpicks in them but that's optional. The great thing about these is that you can also chill the tea bags and use those, I will say the ice cubes can be a bit messy. Chamomile tea is a natural anti-inflammatory so it helps decrease puffiness. The caffeine in green tea does the same thing, and they are both very soothing to your eye. If you want soothing that's not going to make as much of a mess, this still gets makes a little mess though, you can soak cotton balls in the tea and freeze those, I would squeeze them out before freezing.

Another thing you can do is take two spoons and freeze them over night. I find this doesn't stay as cold as much as the ice cubes do.

You can also freeze or chill cucumber slices, these are very soothing to your eye area and gentle. Cucumber is quite popular for soothing the skin and eye area. You could juice the cucumber if you have a juicer and make ice cubes out of that too.

I hope these helps, feel free to leave any of your tips for eye puffiness in a comment. There are other things you can do, but I only wanted to share the things that don't take more then five to ten minutes and were things you can easily wipe off and it not be a big deal to do in the morning before school or work.

Review: Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Defining Marker

Hey,

I hauled this a while ago, you can check that out here if you want to see what other fun Wet n Wild products I got. So let me just start off by saying I love Wet n Wild products, I think they are a great brand, and for the price you can't get better. I really love eyeliners like this, I just think they're easy and sometimes I don't like spending much time on my eyeliner and this gets the job done fast. With all that said this was a great eyeliner, while it lasted. It was pigmented, the marker part was not too hard but yet not so soft either, it did what the website claimed it would, it was just great. The only down fall was after three times of me using this I could tell it was already drying out. Sure you can store it upside down to prolong this from happening but it still dries out faster then I would like, and even though it's only 2.99 I don't want to spend that much on a eyeliner that's going to dry out in three days, even if its cheap, for me to repurchase this every three days for a month that's around 30 dollars, it would be cheaper to get a high end one that is known to last four+ months, or even a different drugstore one.

Over all it a great liner but not worth since it dries out faster, I'd say skip this if you were thinking about getting it, I'm going to get the ELF one of these and do a review/comparison of these later on.

If you would still like to give this a try and see if you have better results you can get these at: Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, and I think Target also carries Wet n Wild. It's 2.99usd and can often be found on sale for less at most drugstores.

Sorry Wet n Wild, but this product was a fail for me, and I would not recommend this to anyone, not even if its for a one time use.

DIY Room Spray

Hey,

Random photo, but I felt it went since we are talking about scents,
and its pretty.

So I hate room sprays you buy at stores, they're either to expensive or they smell terrible, and no matter the price they are always too strong for me. So to meet my standards I made my own; now this isn't mixing scents or anything like that; its very simple and doesn't take long. All you need is some body spray you like, personally I never wear body spray so I have no problem using one that I had, its better if you use a spray that's half gone, that way you're not wasting any of it. Now this is seriously so simple but its perfect cause it gives you a great smell and it's light a fresh, well fresh depending on the spray you use. I got mine at walmart so it was cheap but it still smells good, you can use any scent you like, I used cherry blossom because I like soft and fresh smells, but you can use vanilla or any scents you like. All you do is take a half full body spray that the lid twist off and fill it up, only put a half of the amount of water so its 3/4 the way filled the first time and if its still to strong fill it up the rest of the way, I only filled mine up 3/4 the way, but if your using a strong smell you may want to go a little more. This is great because its cheaper and I'm sure most everyone has a body spray they love but never use anymore or never did, you can also still use this and do this to body sprays you love but are just too strong. I find this last the same amount of time it would on your body or as a room spray but doesn't have that strong barely able to breath quality to it room sprays tend to have.

Review: ELF Eyelid Primer

Hey,
Eyelid Primer - Sheer
I'm sure you have heard about this, and have heard it compared to the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Well I'm going to share with you as to whither that's true and my other thoughts upon this, today. So before I say whither I found this to be the same or well work the same about as the Urban Decay Primer Potion, lets just discus my eyelid type, I know that sounds weird but I hate when people are talking about something and saying this sucks or this is wonderful but yet they don't say what their skin or hair is like; that really makes a difference and will help someone determine if it's good for them too.

So I have slightly oily eyelids, and my eyeshadow creases not too bad but still an annoying amount. So how I use this is by layering it; about three layers and then setting it with either my setting powder or a matte skin tone shade. This product is not the same consistency as the Urban Decay Primer Potion, the ELF Primer is very thin were the Urban Decay primer is much thicker so it takes less. Personally I would suggest this over the Urban Decay one and say give it a try is your new to the world of primers, one thing I will say is if your out of face primer or only need it for one spot you need it like say your cheeks to fill in big pores you can get any with using the Urban Decay Primer Potion, but since the ELF Primer is so thin it wouldn't work but it is great for what its made for which is the eyes.

If you don't have oily lids then one layer would do the trick, and if you have very oily lids I'd still recommend giving it a try since it's only a dollar but I would say layer it at least three times. I think this primer is best for non oily to slightly oily lids, and is a great alternative to the Urban Decay Primer Potion, it does prevent my shadow from creasing and makes it last all day so I would say go for this over the Urban Decay one. This can be found online at www.eyeslipsface.com, Target, and any where else you can get ELF products. It's one dollar in the US and 1.50 pounds in the UK, I really do love this and I use this on day's I don't want to use my Urban Decay Primer Potion and often any tutorials I do since I just take it off afterwards and don't mind wasting it since it's so cheap. Another thing this would be great for just playing around with your makeup looks, when you want to use a primer but you don't want to waste your expensive primer. It comes in four colors, I have only tried the sheer and golden one and would suggest the sheer one over the golden one, the golden one isn't terrible but its not as good and it loses the color once I set it. This has lasted me over a year of on and off use. I have a hamster and as I write this its climbing up its water bottle and banging the water bottle on the wall of the tank she's in, its quite distracting and she keeps falling off of it. Back to what I was saying it works like the Urban Decay one but takes more effort then that one since you have to build it up but both need to be set first for me at least or they crease, I would suggest giving it a try if you haven't and if you have do share with me any tips you found work with it or your experiences with the products.

Thanks for reading, please leave any request down below!

I'm sorry if this is all over the place and a bit redundant, I was losing my focus a bit, over all I really do love this and suggest it.

You can check out this primer here.
